Arne C. Heggen, PA-C
Orthopaedic Physician Assistant

Mr. Heggen graduated from Middlebury College with a B.A. and completed his Physician Assistant training at the Albany Medical College-Hudson Valley program.  He initially worked as a Physician Assistant in Family Practice for 5 years prior to completing a post-graduate Physician Assistant residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute in Park Ridge, IL.  His interest is in general orthopaedics.

Joelle KraftJoelle L. Kraft, PA-C
Orthopaedic Physician Assistant

Ms. Kraft graduated from SUNY Brockport with a BS in Athletic Training and Sports Medicine.  Later she went on to earn her Physician Assistant degree from Daemen College in Buffalo NY.  She relocated to Burlington in 2010 after working over 10 years in orthopaedics in New Hampshire.  Her career interests include sports medicine/athletic injuries/massage therapy and general orthopaedics.  She has been working with the National Ski Patrol for over 20 years.

Orthopaedic Physician Assistant

Ms. Machesky graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a M.S. in Biobehavioral Health.  She then went to Arcadia University in Philadelphia, PA where she earned her Physician Assistant Certification and Master’s of Medical Science.  After working for 3 years in Newport VT, Michelle relocated to South Burlington in 2009 to join Associates in Orthopaedic Surgery.  Her career interests include sports medicine and general orthopaedics.

Matthew SalterMatthew J. Salter , PA-C
Orthopaedic Physician Assistant

Mr. Salter graduated from St. Michael's College with a B.S. in Biology. He subsequently earned his M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. Matt is an avid cyclist, triathlete, and skier and his career interests include general orthopaedics and sports medicine. He joined Associates in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2007.

Orthopaedic Physician Assistant

Ms. Van Gerbig graduated from Middlebury College with a B.A. in science and earned her Physician Assistant certification and Master’s of Health Science at Northeastern University in Boston.  After practicing in the Boston area for over a decade, specializing in both orthopaedics and emergency medicine, she returned to Vermont to join Associates in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2004.  Her areas of special interest are in fracture care, sports medicine and general orthopaedics.
